Hypnobirthing is a really valuable tool to have by your side, throughout pregnancy, labour and early parenthood.

Evidence-based antenatal information is coupled with logical relaxation techniques, helping you to unlearn all the negative narratives that make you feel anxious or apprehensive. In doing so, you allow yourself to reframe how you feel about birth, how you approach it and ultimately, how you experience it for yourself.

I hold a hypnobirthing diploma with Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing and deliver my course across 4x sessions, running at 2.5 to 3 hours per session.

The course is extremely comprehensive and - having done the course myself in preparation for my first birth - I whole-heartedly believe that KGHypnobirthing improves outcomes, whatever, wherever and however you birth your baby.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the course outline - I'd be happy to talk you through what it entails.
The KGHypnobirthing Course is delivered across 4 sessions, each lasting between 2 and 3 hours long depending on whether we are learning in a group setting or privately. The course is often summarised in terms of building a house...

Part 1: Laying the Foundations
The Logic of KGH
This is your introduction to hypnotherapy as a concept, hypnobirthing and - in a group class - each other! We outline the course here, discuss assumptions, fears and anxieties and what we already think we know about birth. We take a dive into the psychology of hypnotherapy in general, how the mind works in the context of causing physical change in the body, as well as touching on the physiology of birth, the huge part hormones play during labour and how our environment can affect our state of mind.

Part 2: Building the Structure
Techniques and Physical Information
This is a lovely relaxing session. We discuss the physiological affects of the breathing exercises which we then practice together, inducing a state of calm and comfort, ready to enjoy our relaxation scripts and techniques. You will get to experience several hypnotherapy scripts, all of which have differing triggers, trying to figure out which ones resonate the most for you. We finish up with a look at the physical aspects of birth and a lovely hypnobirthing video.

Part 3: Furnishing Your House
Planning and Preparation
In this session, we discuss navigating the maternity system, your rights as a pregnant and birthing woman and the importance of self-advocacy. The information in this session is all geared towards enabling you to make informed, confident decisions about your care. We will learn about policy and guidelines within the NHS, what you might be offered during your pregancy and birth, and why. We will also give you the tools to enable you to question, investigate and manage your path through the system, and how to work alongside your care team to ensure a positive experience.

Part 4: Living in Your Beautiful Home
Giving Birth
The final session is where we delve into the physiology of labour and birth, stage by stage. We run through how and when to utilise everything you've learned on the course, from the initial stages of early labour, right the way through to The Golden Hour after baby has arrived and is in your arms for the very first time. We run through some really useful stuff, such as what to pack in your hospital bag, book lists for extra suggested reading, reliable sources for evidence-based information, as well as some positive birth stories from other KGHypnobirthing couples.

PLUS included in the course is a parents workbook, a copy of The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves and access to downloadable audio files of the scripts and music we will listen to in class. I am also available to you via email to help with any queries in the run-up to your birth.
